Barbara Smith

Barbara received her M.B.A. from Pepperdine University in 1974 and her law degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1977. 

Barbara served as President of both the Cleveland Bar Association and the Ohio Women's Bar Association.  She was a member of the Leadership Cleveland Class of 1999 and was Chosen as Northern Ohio Live Top woman Rainmaker for Law in 1999.  She has been named an Ohio Super Lawyer several times, and in 2007 was chosen as one of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in Cleveland and Top 50 Women Lawyers in Ohio.

Health Law, Business Law and Estate Planning 

Barbara represents businesses and individuals. On the business side, she focuses her practice on the corporate, tax and regulatory concerns of businesses, health care providers and non-profit organizations.  She has served as general outside counsel for two multi-hospital systems.  She has also served as principal legal counsel in multiple types of transactional representations, including mergers, acquisitions, sales, affilitations, joint ventures, reorganizations and financings, as well as contract negotiations.

Barbara represents individuals and families in connection with estate planning, estate administration and charitable giving as well as business succession.
